Cover up: La Mer The Radiant Concealer
Ah, the joys of finding the right concealer … it’s like being able to look five years younger in five minutes … like you had the best beauty sleep … like you have flawless skin.
That is, if you find the right concealer.
I’m not too fussy with them – so long as they do their job and cover enough of my imperfections, I’m happy. And if I get a compliment, or two along the way, my day is made.
But I do have my favourites, and right now it is La Mer’s The Radiant Concealer.
I was passed one by La Mer to try out a couple of months ago, and let me tell you – all my other cover-ups have been sorely neglected since.
Okay, the details:
The La Mer signature ingredients are there in this concealer – tourmaline and malachite gemstones to capture light and conceal dark circles and blemishes, while marine and plant extracts reduce the appearance of dark under-eye circles, puffiness and pores. Also, with continuous use, redness and discolouration will be less visible, thanks to chamomile extract and a unique mushroom ingredient called Viapure Poria.
The concealer is supposed to be lightweight, and of cream-to-powder texture. I think the texture is a bit thick, though it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin. It does gets creamier and easier to blend in once warmed up – so, I don’t bother with a brush with this, just my fingers.
Even so, it still gives the impression of being a rather thick consistency, so it might not work so great if you have very dry skin.
But if you don’t have that issue, this works beautifully.
The heavy pigments and light diffusing particles in the concealer brightened my eye area, erased redness, slight under-eye circles, and some of my lighter spots without settling into my pores or wrinkles. It’s thick enough for my blemishes (plenty, lately!), so I pretty much end up using it all over my face. It has great staying power too, I still look fresh-faced at the end of a long day.
That said, while it might just be a concealer, it is a La Mer concealer, so expect to pay top dollar. The pan is also a little on the small size, but I’ve used mine for more than a month, and it’s hardly budged.
This is, without a doubt, a huge splurge. But if you can afford to, consider it the price you pay for perfect skin … and a good ten hours sleep!

Ooh, I agree with you, this is one fantastic concealer. I literally just need a dab to cover up the dark circles so a pan, regardless of the price, will definitely last a long long long time. The texture is quite incredible. Since I have dry skin I don’t use powder over it. I’m annoyed by the color selection though. I use Dark and I’m well, not all that dark. Anyone who has a darker complexion than I do won’t be able to use this
Hey Connie! So it feels alright for dry skin then? Coverage is great, isn’t it – just a little go a looong way. You know – I’ve heard other girls complaining about the colour selection too – it would be wise for La Mer to come out with more! oh – and p.s – it was lovely meeting you!
wah~ really got good n natural coverage~~a bit similar wif benefit ‘hello flawless’ is it~
Hi YJia – yes, it’s a great concealer! I’ve never used Hello Flawless but I wouldn’t compare this to it, simply because Hello Flawless also works as a powder. I would imagine that The Radiant Concealer offers better coverage.
Wow, what a great concealer! I have combination skin and only used Bobbi Brown’s in Banana eons ago.
Will check this out if I can find a LaMer counter. Raising 2 kids is hell on your eyes…
Thanks! The La Mer counters are at Metrojaya Mid Valley Megamall and Pavilion KL – good luck!
