So What’s Good?

The most common question I’d get asked by women is “what (insert a facial feature) cream should I use”? Or “what’s really good?”

I always tell them is that there isn’t one wonder product out there, it’s all about trial and error. And believe me, I should know – having to try out hundreds, maybe thousands of different beauty products in the name of work – but that’s what makes it fun!

You just need to dig in a little deeper, past the marketing hype and not fall for the promises, because that particular face cream might work for your best friend, but not you. Yes, you can get excited about the technologies behind the skincare – God only knows I do – but remember too that maybe your skin might not even need what the cream offers.

My suggestion? If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it. It’s all about maintenance. Blessed with great skin? Get something simple – I like Olay and Eucerin, they’re uncomplicated and are fabulous budget buys. Maybe splurge on a good anti-aging serum (like Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair or Dr Murad’s Intensive Wrinkle Reducer) if you start noticing fine lines. But most of all – all the dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons I’ve ever interviewed say this – get a good sunblock! Sometimes, that is all you need!

P/S: I’d start with my two favourite sunblocks, Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protection Lotion SPF 55 and Lancôme UV Expert Neuroshield SPF50.
