Welcome, TheBalm

If you’re a SaSa regular, then you would’ve already known that it now carries quirky San Francisco beauty brand TheBalm.
A couple of weeks ago SaSa officially launched the brand here with a roadshow at Mid Valley Megamall, where TheBalm make-up artists Jennifer Sullivan and Josh Wolf created sexy pin-up looks on pretty models for our viewing pleasure.

To be honest, I’m not familiar with TheBalm, and you can’t deny that the entire concept of the brand brings to mind another San Fran brand … but – I was given the opportunity to check out the products, and I’ll tell you this – they’re a lot of fun. And for some strange reason, they all remind me of the movie Pearl Harbour!
“Youth is both a state of mind and a product of your make-up bag,” said Marissa Shipman, the founder of TheBalm.
She also said that the brand is meant to be fun and nostalgic – and perfect for any age. I’m not too sure about the “any age” bit – but nevertheless, it’s hard not to smile when you’re playing with the products.
The story behind the five-year old brand is also pretty unique. Marissa, who was uninspired by what’s available in the market, purchased 11 books on Amazon one day, and started mixing her own lip balm. The rest is history.
I love that the price point isn’t too bad – I’m guessing a lot has to do with the fact that the brand uses recycled materials for its packaging. Haven’t tried out the products yet, but am planning to do that very soon. In the meantime, will leave you with the ones I’m eyeing!
