Object of Desire: Chanel Rouge Allure Laque

It’s almost mid-November already, can you believe it? In fact, Elika is eight months today! For those of you who don’t know how Elika, let me introduce my daughter. *proud mom grin*

Okay, here’s another picture. *more grinning*

How the year has just passed us by, but really, what a fabulous year it has been for lipsticks!

For me, it started with YSL’s Rouge Volupte – okay, technically, it was last year, but LATE last year, and kinda counts as it’s almost 12 months ago! Of course, other favourites after that include the ultra-luxurious Guerlain Rouge G, Lancome Laque Fever, and the very, very nice Dior Serum de Rouge. I’m also huge fan of Chanel’s Rouge Allure, and it carries one of the best blue-reds ever called Lover.

This month, Chanel launches a liquid version of Rouge Allure, called Laque. If Rouge Allure was melted down, with some high shine added into the mix, you’re looking at its baby – and I love, love, love it!

This is how liquid lipstick should be! (That’s Rouge Allure lipstick on the left, and the new Laque on the right).

Rouge Allure Laque comes in an elegant black glossy glass tube. The formulation is just the perfect consistency of creaminess, is very pigmented, and has staying power. It’s comfortable on the lips (thanks to jojoba oil), and keeps lips moist without any sticky or oily feeling.

Eight colours are on offer; Santal (peach), Ming (tender pink), Phoenix (powdery pink), Mandarin (coral brown), Dynastie (pink brown), Coromandel (orange red), Dragon (“Lover” red) and Imperial (brown).

Of course, Dragon was my top choice. I even love the name – sounds fierce! The description says “Lover” red, and it is perfectly matched with Rouge Allure’s Lover. It’s a crazy-intense, deep blood red, and no amount of (good and bad) photography could do it justice. I also have a feeling that this red will look cool on most skin tones, you just need the right attitude!

Its other USP is the “fountain pen” sponge applicator that conforms to individual lip shapes. I like the applicator – it looks similarly enough to general sponge applicators, but is indented a little more on the slanted side. In fact, I just painted on the colour for my shot, no extra defining with lip brush required. The applicator does allow for more controlled application, so I get a nicely defined lips – I even check myself out in the mirror a bit more often than normal.

If you’ve always wanted a bit more from your lipstick – high colour, high shine with maximum comfort – this is it.

Chanel Rouge Allure Laque is available at Chanel counters for RM110.

Whoa! Thats super red! I’ve never really worn Chanel lipsticks except for one of their older formulas. Elika is gorgeous and so adorable!!! She’s going to grow up into a very pretty little girl

elika looks really cheeky and being someone who loves nude/coral/pinkish lip tones, i would so love to get my hands on a colour that matches elika’s lip colour… what colour tone do you think that is? pinkish brown?

Thanks, Paris! This is your colour, too! Only problem is that it’s a little pricey – but once you go Chanel, it’s hard to stop. :)

Hey Juan, I think Dynastie (pink brown) or Mandarin (coral brown) would look lovely on you. :)
