New Love – Dior Serum de Rouge

Those who follow me on Twitter would’ve heard about how in love I am with the new Dior Serum de Rouge.

Now the brand’s always come out tops for me when it comes to pigment quality – always happy with how rich and creamy the Rouge Dior lipsticks are. But I now have a new obsession.

A dear friend at Dior (who knows how mad I am for red lipsticks) kindly passed me one to try out in Crimson Serum, and I am now hooked!

Serum de Rouge is a lipstick, gloss and lip treatment, in one luxe packaging, complete with Dior’s signature cane motif all over the midnight blue black glossy pen.

Application is super-easy – just twist and apply. But what I’m really impressed with is the formulation. It’s not a lipstick with lip treatment properties, but rather a lip treatment that comes with colour. Unlike conventional Dior lipsticks, Serum de Rouge contains up to 20 percent more love! I’m talking about the kind of anti-aging benefits normally reserved for most Lip and Eye creams. To give you better idea, here’s the ingredients list from the press release:

  • Mango butter helps smooth the epidermal surface thanks to its moisturizing, smoothing and softening qualities.
  • A derivative of Vitamin A stimulates epidermal renewal and helps maintain skin density.
  • Ruscogenine stimulates microcirculation for improved tissue oxygenation.  The lips look enhanced in color.
  • An extract of Centella Asiatica – a plant native to the subtropical regions of the Indian Ocean, recognized for its wound-healing action – works to activate collagen synthesis in the fibroblasts * to boost lip firmness.
  • An extract of Commiphora, a plant native to India with anti-wrinkle action demonstrated by the Dior Innovation Center (LVMH patent), stimulates adipocyte activity for replumping action.
  • Hyaluronic acid microspheres swell upon contact with saliva and work to fill in the appearance of micro-wrinkles on the lips.

The texture reminds me a lot of M.A.C’s Slimshine lipstick. It’s very emollient and stays on comfortably on the lips. I’m happy with the colour transfer – one layer keeps it sweet, and two gets it sexy.

And every time you slick it on, you’re doing your lips plenty of good – helping it regain its density and plumpness. To top it off, an SPF of 20 (pretty major for a lipstick).

As for the shade, it might be called Crimson, but there’s nothing intimidating about the red. In fact, under certain lighting, it even looks more berry than anything else. It’s alluring and innocent. I think it’s just perfect.

Okay, enough gushing. If you find that hard to believe, take a look.
