The Stain That Started it All

The best beauty products always have the most interesting history behind them. Take Benefit’s Benetint, for instance. This lip and cheek stain was created way back in 1977, and was meant for a much more exotic use.

As the story goes, a stripper approached Jean and Jane Ford (the founders of Benefit Cosmetics) one day for something to “rosy-up” her nipples with (yep, you read right). Maybe that’s why it works so well even on the darkest skin colour?

While I can’t say I’ve used it the way it was originally intended for, I can tell you that it’s the easiest way to add a natural flush on cheeks – you know, the kind that you’d normally get after a romp under the sheets. And it smells beautifully of roses too.
